Safety First, Always
LPG Safety Excellence
At Reliance Internationer Africa, safety is paramount. We remain committed to the safety of our products and ensuring that no harm comes to people because of their use. We are also focused on protecting the environment and alleviating any negative effects associated with LPG production.
LPG General Safety
LPG Vapour is Heavier Than Air
Any leakage will sink to the ground and accumulate in low-lying areas. Do not store highly combustible material, ignition sources and hot surfaces at ground level.
LPG Vapourises and Cools Rapidly
It can inflict severe cold burns if spilt on the skin. Always wear protective gloves and goggles when handling LPG equipment.
LPG is Non-Toxic
However, it has an anesthetic effect when mixed with air in high concentrations. The greater the concentration, the greater the risk of suffocation.
LPG is Odourless
A stenching agent is added to allow detection of LPG leaks. Never try to detect leaks with a naked flame or other ignition sources.
Bulk Tank Safety
Essential Tank Safety Measures
Reliance Internationer ensures that your LPG tank installation is in a safe location with all necessary protective devices in place:
- Gas Cylinder Security: Keep security fences in good condition. Keep gates locked and valve cover closed.
- Keep Tanks in a Clean Space: Keep rubbish and combustible materials far away. Maintain vegetation control.
- LPG Proximity: Keep vehicles and unauthorized personnel away from tank installations.
- No Smoking Zone: Prohibit smoking and ignition sources near the installation. Display and maintain warning signs.
- Pipe Protection: Ensure above-ground pipework is protected and supported. Know underground pipe routes.
- Operating Instructions: Read and share all operating instructions and emergency actions with everyone on premises.
- No Modifications: Do not make modifications affecting the installation. Only authorized engineers should work on your tank.
Gas Cylinder Safety
Stay Safe Around LPG Cylinders
- Ventilation: Store cylinders in well-ventilated places, away from open flames and electrical appliances. Never store in cellars or closed areas.
- Keep Cylinders Cool: Never store near heat sources or in direct sunlight.
- Proper Equipment: Always use hoses designed for LPG. Hoses should be maximum 2m with clamps at both ends. Replace every two years.
- Pressure Regulators: All cylinders must have regulators explicitly designed for propane or butane. Use the correct regulator type.
- Washer Integrity: Check the washer before each cylinder connection. Replace if worn or damaged.
- Follow Instructions: Always follow connection instructions. Do not open valve or regulator until properly attached.
- No Open Flames: Never smoke while connecting equipment. Do not check leaks with a flame.
